Changes to MO Attendance and Suspensions
8/14/25
Later this week our Missouri public schools will see a new default attendance code in SchoolInsight called “Out of School Suspension (Section 160.265 RSMo),” which districts should use effective August 28, 2025.
Missouri SB68 (2025) revised Section 160.265 of Missouri Statute to allow school districts to claim attendance credit for students serving out of school suspensions (OSS). Previously these dates could not be claimed.
To properly handle this change, we’re adding a new default OSS attendance code with Present Credit set to 1. Starting August 28, please use this code for any students serving OSS. No other action is required at this time.

The old code, which we’ve renamed “(8/2025 and earlier) Out of School Suspension” will be marked inactive on August 28. This will prevent it from being used for attendance going forward, while preserving it for previous years.
Please do not alter the old OSS attendance code, or continue to use it after August 28. Similarly, do not use the new OSS code prior to August 28. Doing any of these may result in inaccurate state reporting attendance totals.
