Taft School District 90 Switches from PowerSchool to SchoolInsight
Elmhurst, IL (October 1, 2013) – Common Goal Systems is pleased to announce that Taft School District 90 in Lockport, IL has implemented SchoolInsight and TeacherEase for the 2013-14 school year. The district will use the cloud-based student information system, gradebook, curriculum/lesson planning, and learning management system to run its K-8 classrooms of about 350 students. Taft is just one of many districts that has decided to leave PowerSchool for the more user-friendly and affordable SchoolInsight.
Dr. DJ Skogsberg, Superintendent of Taft School District 90, says: “Having had the good fortune of previously using TeacherEase as a principal, I was at a loss when faced with having to use PowerSchool at Taft. My staff consistently bombarded me and the one other person “authorized” to contact PowerSchool for help—and most times we struggled to get an answer from them. Something had to change. Ease of use by our stakeholders coupled with the financial constraints impacting school systems today are the two main reasons we switched from PowerSchool to SchoolInsight/TeacherEase. Another bonus is that anyone from our staff can contact Common Goal Systems support and receive prompt, immediate attention. By partnering with Common Goal, our district will see a nearly 50% savings in the first year alone! Better service, user-friendly, and a cost-effective product – this was a no brainer!”
According to Mike Xakellis, CEO for Common Goal Systems, “Our market research shows that small districts that use PowerSchool are unhappy and frustrated with the program. Smaller districts have fewer technology personnel and are often overwhelmed by PowerSchool’s complexity. SchoolInsight is designed for small to medium-sized school districts, those with under 6000 students. Taft School District is right in our wheelhouse. We welcome Taft and look forward to a long relationship with them.”
